As it endeavours to promote County Enterprise growth and vibrancy of small businesses through access to affordable financial services, the newly appointed County Enterprise Fund committee by H. E the governor of Marsabit Ambassador Ukur Yatani today took oath of office at the County’s Headquarters. According to governor Yatani, the Ksh. 30 Million fund is aimed to nurture self-reliance through Micro and Small Enterprise among youths and women besides creating an entrepreneural culture within the county by funding innovative enterprises. The county chief who appointed the fund committee under the Marsabit County Enterprise Fund Act, was optimistic that they(committee) will expedite the disbursement of enterprise fund, adding that the effect of devolution must be felt at lowest possible unit. The county chief officer for Trade,Industry and Enterprise Development Mr. James Chiwe revealed that the Commission for Revenue Allocation(CRA) formula tha factors criteria such as; population(45%), Land area (8%), Poverty level(20%),Equal share (25%) and Development (2%) will used for fund disbursement in the four sub counties of Marsabit. Chiwe said that the application for the fund should be done through ward administrators offices where applications are appraised before forwarding them to the County Enterprise Fund Credit Committee for approval or rejection based on recommendations. Those who were sworn include; Ambaro Abdulahi Ali(from Moyale),Jane Nadungkura Naimirdik(Laisamis), Fatuma Wario(Sololo), Fahad Ali Salim (Moyale),Bonaya Katelo Sarboba(NorthHorr) and Timothy Tilo Godana(Saku). County department of trade,industry and enterprise development has nominated one of its staff to join the committee. The vision of the Fund is An inclusive and Sustainable Enterprise Fund.
