The Northern Kenya Biodiversity Conservation Community Development Project was officially launched yesterday at the KWS Headquarters,Marsabit.

The launch which was generously punctuated by pomp and ceremony was presided over by the conservation secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Water and Natural Resources, Mr. Gideon Gathara, who represented the Cabinet Secretary in the same ministry, Prof. Judy Wakhungu.

6. CEO,AFD
7. The County Commissioner,Marsabit
8. The Community Conservancy elders
9. MP Laisamis Sub-County

This project was initiated to curb the overbearing strain put on the embattled Marsabit Forest by human induced factors such as conversion of forest for agriculture and settlements,deforestation,overgrazing-all of which have culminated in significant decline in the water tower.

The French Embassy donated two new Toyota Landcruisers for the KWS,Marsabit, KFS,Marsabit and three more new land cruisers for the local community conservancies of Songa,Shur and Jaldesa.
