VULNERABLE FARMERS GET AGRICULTURAL INPUTS

The Marsabit County government has distributed quality agricultural inputs for farming to one thousand five hundred poor and vulnerable farmers across Marsabit county.
Speaking during the flag-off of the distribution of the agricultural inputs which ranged from Maize, Cow Peas, Sorghum, Kales and Green grams, County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture Mr. Hussein Ali stated that the intervention was aimed at boosting agricultural productivity , employment creation and stimulation of the rural economy.
The county Minister for agriculture revealed that the decision to empower vulnerable farmers with quality inputs such as high quality yielding seeds varieties in order to ensure sustainability of food production as well as livelihood of farming families.
Disclosing that the exercise will be replicated in all the sub counties , Mr. Hussein maintained that the initiative was to mainly reach the poor and vulnerable farmers for economic empowerment, poverty alleviation and boosting the county's food security in the county.
While commending Governor Mohamud Ali for living up to the expectation of farmers , Mr. Hussein Ali pointed out that the exercise is one of the measures aimed at addressing the adverse effects of drought arising from failure of rainfall for four consecutive seasons. He further urged farmers to ensure maximum utilization of the inputs , warning against selling of the products .
